Using the MP3 Players

Naming the Files

We currently offer MP3 formatted files. Rehoboth Chapel would be happy to create a CD-ROM or DVD disc for you, of any of the sermons listed on the site. Please contact the Webservant for details, all requests are processed free of charge.

Using the MP3 Players

The MP3 players on the site offer lots of features, but these can be overwhelming. In this section you will find the a brief description of the players and how they work. I will be adding a video to this section in the near future to demonstrate the player on some of the pages.

Naming the MP3 Audio Archive Files

It was pointed out to me recently that our naming convention for the audio file names is a bit overwhelming. If you feel this way, pause for a moment and think about having to keep all the files sorted, named and tagged for the various audio players out there. Or just trying to get them all numbered in the correct order book by book.

We use a format which looks like the following:

09-10-06 PM I Cor 15_12-28 JF
or
09-10-06PMICor15_12-28JF.mp3

I assumed anyone looking at the files would understand the format right away. Most Christians will recognize the format as including the Book Name Chapter and Verse numbers, and the first part is the date of the original sermon.

So the above file formats state:

September 10, 2006 PM (Evening) I Corinthians 15:12-28 JF (Jay Fluck)

Files including the Initials JF are sermons or bible studies lead by Pastor Jay Fluck. The initials CG = Clarence Goehring and CE = Carl Esparza. Others may indicate a guest speaker.

Other file names have been chosen in the hope of being easily understood:

01BelgicArt1aJF = File # 01 of the Belgic Confession Article #1a by Rev. Jay Fluck

ChurchHistoryPart01 JF = Church History Part 01 by Rev. Jay Fluck

Additionally I am attempting to tag all of the files with an MP3 tag (ID3) which included information in more detail which is used by iPods and other MP3 players to show which file is playing the artist, year and other information of interest. If your really interested you can read more about it at the above link.

We can not include spaces or colons in the files for download as this causes problem with some browsers, and we are attempting to appeal to as many platforms as possible.

I hope this brief explanation is helpful and I apologize of there has been any confusion. If you find an error in spelling, or the order the files appear in, please contact the Webservant, thank you!
